MAHA BEACH - YOUR FORT OF DREAMS
AS YOUNG MEN BLEED TORN AT THE SEAMS
IN YOUR WAKE YOU LEAVE US STRANDED, SCREAMING,
BEGGING YOU FOR MORE
WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY AND KEEP AS
YOURS PERPETUALLY KEEPING SCORE
YOU'RE LIKE A WAR
LIKE A PLACE WE USED TO LIVE WHEN WE ENDURED
BY SOME NARROW MINDED MINDFIELD
WHERE YOU SIT
THE NARROW MARGIN TIGHTROPE ACT IN WHICH WE LIVE
IN STORM-LIKE WARS WHERE NOTHING'S
LEFT MAGINOT LINE OF YOUR CONTEMPT WHERE WE DO TIME AND WE DESCEND INTO
SOMETHING PART SUBHUMAN, THREE PARTS ANNIHILATION PUSHING ALL OUR CHIPS
FORWARD, REACHING FOR OBLIVION YOU'RE LIKE A WAR.
Coming back to punk rock after spending a lot of time away listening to other things made this extremely hard hitting and fresh. McCaughan's poetic lyricsm in Sundowner shines through in this release. Somehow Metropole didn't hit me like most, but I can see how "You Are Here" was a precursor to one of my favorite records to come. Shaughn Martel
